MAKE YOURSELF A CASUAL HAT
Make yourself a casual hat for the holidays in straw or felt. Some like to wear felt all year round and others like straw. This workshop is for people who have no idea whatsoever about hat making and who would like to learn the basics.
Learning outcomes:
Blocking a felt or straw - you choose the shape
You will walk away with 1 or 2 hats depending on your speed and wishes
An understanding of what blocks to use and which ones to buy
Shaping and trimming of the hat
What makes a hat fit perfectly
Which head measurements to take and how to measure
How to set up your hatmaking studio with the basics
Basic stitches used in millinery
You will have an understanding about the difference between millinery and hatmaking

We have 2 cats and 2 small dogs which are not in the studio but on the premises
I will have a large selection of felts available for purchase which is supplied by The Melbourne Millinery Hub which you can choose from. Or you can purchase directly from them in advance
A variety of straws will also be available in the studio
If you like, feel free to bring your own materials too
